India and Indonesia strengthen cooperation with five agreements

New Delhi, Jan 25 (Prensa Latina) India and Indonesia signed five agreements today in connection with the visit here of President Prabowo Subianto, guest of honor at tomorrow's Republic Day celebrations.

After official talks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indonesian leader witnessed the ceremony to materialize cooperation in health, maritime security, traditional medicine, digital development and cultural exchange.

In a joint press conference, the Indian head of government recalled his visit to Indonesia in 2018, when both nations raised ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

He noted that in the meeting this Saturday, both dignitaries held extensive talks on various aspects of mutual cooperation.

To strengthen our cooperation in the Defense sector, we have decided to work together in the areas of Manufacturing and Supply Chain of the sector, Modi explained.

According to the Prime Minister, they also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in maritime security, cybersecurity and the fight against terrorism in all its forms.

The agreement signed today on maritime security will strengthen our cooperation in the areas of crime prevention, search and rescue, and capacity building, he said.

He also noted that last year trade exchange exceeded 30 billion dollars, which they hope to increase with, among other aspects, the participation of the private sector in the diversification of market access and the commercial basket.

According to Modi, they also decided to further strengthen cooperation in FinTech, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Digital Public Infrastructure.

In addition, they will promote collaboration in the sectors of energy, critical minerals, science and technology, space and STEM education, an interdisciplinary approach that unites the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The disaster management authorities of both countries will also join together to carry out joint exercises, said the Indian head of government.

Tomorrow, the Indonesian President will be the chief guest of the Republic Day Parade, which will be attended by an Indonesian contingent and band at the opening of the parade.
