In a statement, the general secretary of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar, warned that the Executive intends to deepen the cuts with measures such as the elimination and merger of decentralized entities.
If this were carried out, basic and essential services would not be guaranteed. The 800 million dollars that the reduction of taxes on the countryside implies cannot be compensated with the massive dismissal of state employees and the closure of public organizations. This will necessarily have an absolutely negative social impact, he said.
By dint of cutting and not observing essential rights, in 2024 the Government reduced public spending by 30 percent and wants to continue in the same line during the current year, he added.
Given this scenario, he reported that ATE will define this week the call to its organic bodies. Here the model of State and the role that it must fulfill are under debate. We cannot continue to accept that it be reduced to its minimum expression. Democracy is at risk, he said.
