That is the case of Cuban leisure industry specialist Jose Luis Perello who, in his Facebook account on Tuesday, reported a 25 percent increase in tourist arrivals for that nation.
Perello indicates that this small island destination has become an outstanding scenario in the Caribbean, achieving a remarkable inter-annual increase of 25 percent in overnight tourist arrivals in 2024.
The announcement was made by the country’s Ministry of Tourism, when it confirmed that the destination exceeded its tourism growth targets, with an increase of 25.6 percent in overnight visitors compared to 2023 and a 39 increase over 2019, a peak year before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Overnight tourist arrivals reached a historic high, with 101,471 visitors recorded in December 2024.
This achievement marks the first time the Caribbean state has surpassed 100,000 overnight tourists. St. Vincent and the Grenadines also led its regional peers with the highest average growth rate in overnight tourist arrivals.
The Ministry said the country’s tourism industry experienced an average growth rate of 30.8 percent in total arrivals over the last decade, far exceeding the long-term average of seven to nine percent per year.
He noted that this exceptional performance, driven by early-stage tourism development, is expected to sustain strong growth over the medium and long term.
