In front of a bust that immortalizes him in the Latin America square, located at the Champerret gate, the participants in the ceremony remembered the independence hero with white flowers and highlighted his legacy.
Martí (January 28, 1853-May 19, 1895) made an indispensable contribution to the Cuban nation and to our continent, the ambassador of the West Indian nation in France, Otto Vaillant, said in the central words of the tribute.
The diplomat asserted that inspired by his legacy, Cuba will always defend its independence, sovereignty and self-determination.
“May your light and your teachings lead us on the safe path to victory always,” Vaillant, said, who evoked the warning launched in his time by Martí about the imperialist threat represented by the United States and the validity of the same and his call for Latin American unity to confront it.
The ambassador thanked associations, trade unions, political forces and citizens on French soil for their solidarity with Cuba.
