A note issued by the Council of Ministers Presidency stresses that this initiative is part of the “Food for Gaza” program of the Italian Foreign Ministry, which has already delivered about 100 tons of food and medical aid to the Strip, whose inhabitants are suffering a serious crisis as a result of the Israeli attacks.
As part of that project, the report stated that 15 trucks donated by Italy to the World Food Program (WFP) and 15 other tons of aid from Rome to Gaza will arrive in the coming days at the Israeli port of Ashdod, where more than 46,500 people have been killed as a result of Tel Aviv’s airstrikes.
The Italian Defense Ministry, in turn, announced on its official website that the new airlift of aid to the Palestinian population in that area was carried out on Tuesday in two NH 90 army helicopters that took off from the King Abdullah II airbase in Zarqa, Jordan.
This is part of the Italian-Jordanian initiative called “A Bridge to Gaza”, which involves human and air resources from both countries and is coordinated by the Italian Joint Operations Command (JOC).
