The Qatari emir expects to meet with the ruling authorities in Damascus, headed by Ahmed al-Sharaa, who was appointed as the country’s transitional president on Wednesday.
Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesman Majed al-Ansari had assured that Doha is working with the Syrian authorities to overcome the challenges on the ground, including the Israeli occupation, in addition to seeking the lifting of international sanctions.
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani visited Syria on January 18 to express his full support for the ruling authorities.
