Cuba expands access to tourist rental vehicles

Havana, Feb 1 (Prensa Latina) A reduction in the length of time a driver's license is required for clients who rent cars for tourism in Cuba came into force today to expand access to that service, a source announced.

According to the company Transtur, the leader in the tourist transportation sector in this country, the requirement of two years issuance of the document was reduced to one to make the travel experience more accessible and comfortable for its customers.

The measure applies to all vehicle categories, except Rex’s I Sport and F Luxury categories, which will maintain the current term.

This modification not only broadens the possibilities of access to the demanded service but also offers greater freedom and flexibility during the tourist’s stay in Cuba, which would favor the effective connection between transportation and tourism, according to Granma newspaper.

According to the newspaper, with this initiative, Transtur reaffirms its commitment to innovation and continuous improvement of its services and contributes to the development of tourism in Cuba.

Cuba is betting on the take-off of its strategic tourism sector, despite the intensification of coercive measures applied by the US government to asphyxiate its economy.
