The initiative was called during a multisectoral assembly held in Lezama Park, where groups such as the State Workers Association (ATE) and Lgbti+ collectives (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals, intersexuals, queer, and others) decided to leave at 16:00, local time, from the legislative headquarters to reach the surroundings of the Casa Rosada.
The Grandmothers and Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, the Peace and Justice Service (Serpaj), La Cámpora, affiliates of the General Confederation of Labor, the Argentine Workers’ Central (CTA), and the Autonomous CTA, among others, have also confirmed their presence.
Participants will express their discontent with the policies of President Javier Milei and his recent pronouncements against feminism, homosexuals, and diversity.
The Serpaj, whose head is Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Perez Esquivel, said in a statement that Human rights are progressive. They cannot be diminished, only expanded.
The president cannot attribute legislative functions to himself. The State must guarantee rights, not violate them. We will defend in the streets self-determination of the peoples, the text adds.
