Pope Francis renewed his call for an end to wars

Vatican City, Feb 2 (Prensa Latina) Pope Francis renewed today his call to increase efforts to put an end to wars in the world in this year of the Catholic Jubilee.

“I reiterate my no to war, which destroys, destroys everything, destroys life and leads to despise it, and let us not forget that war is always a defeat,” reaffirmed the Supreme Pontiff after the Angelus prayer, addressing thousands of pilgrims and faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square, a statement from the press office of the Holy See highlights.

In making that appeal, Sunday noon from the window of his office in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, Francis again appealed to world leaders, “especially Christian leaders, to make every effort to negotiate an end to all ongoing conflicts.”

On January 28, the Holy Father also referred to this issue in a message sent to the more than 600 delegates from 98 countries participating in the VI International Conference for the Balance of the World, which began that day in Havana, Cuba, and which was in session until last Friday.

In his letter, Pope Francis reminded those attending the forum that the theme of the Jubilee celebrated this year by the Catholic Church is, significantly, “hope, which is born of love and founded on love.

It “allows us to be ready to share in the sufferings, weariness, disappointments and fears that are part of the life of every person and every society.”
