ICAP president extols Cuba’s resistance and solidarity against US

Havana, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban people will resist and overcome the pressures from the Government of the United States, due to their resilience and heroism, and the expressions of solidarity throughout the world, the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González, said on Monday.

In a press conference at the beginning of a campaign on the 65th anniversary of ICAP, Fernando González, who is also a also Hero of the Republic of Cuba, confirmed that in the face of the hostility by the Trump administration, the Caribbean island has the support of some 1,717 friendship organizations, 95 peace organizations and 81 alumni associations in 153 countries.

The Cuban people and their revolution will resist the new imperialist escalation that is trying to use economic obstacles and hunger to reduce popular support for the project chosen by Cubans, in another effort to implement the policy designed by the United States 65 years ago, González added.

In this context, solidarity movements on the five continents will increase their condemnation of the White House’s hostility against Cuba, given the imminent implementation of an agenda full of hatred due to the obsession with overthrowing the Cuban Revolution, emphasized the president of ICAP.

At the meeting, the first vice president of ICAP summarized the program of some 50 events “of the solidarity plan that opposes the plan of imperial hatred,” which includes actions inside and outside the country, and in public and virtual spaces.

She mentioned, among others, the continuation of the World Marathon of Love for Cuba, convened in the late 2024 by the Continental Latin American and Caribbean Network of Solidarity with Cuba and Just Causes.

That event is linked to the 9th Continental Latin American and Caribbean Solidarity Meeting that will take place in Mexico from October 9 to 12.

As part of the program, Havana will host the International Brigade of Volunteer Work “65 years of love for Cuba,” which will hold the main event on December 29 on the anniversary of ICAP, which is commemorated the following day.

In addition, virtual events and rallies in public squares, contests, exhibitions, workshops and open days are planned to promote interaction with the new generations, and the Cuban people, of whom the entity is a part, its directors assured.

“The ICAP: 65 years of love for Cuba” evokes the founding spirit of that organization, conceived by revolutionary leader Fidel Castro to promote solidarity, cooperation, peace, and respect for the sovereignty of peoples, ICAI Communications Director,Tamara Velázquez explained to reporters.
