The attack took place Sunday by the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and Darfur governor Minni Arkou Minnawi described it as a “heinous crime.”
Minnawi accused the RSF of killing the Al-Imam mosque Al Sadiq Ahmed Abdullah, his brother, and 11 civilians who were praying inside the temple.
This weekend, Sudanese paramilitaries also carried out a massacre in a market in Omdurman, bordering Khartoum, where more than 60 people were killed and about 150 were injured.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in an internal war, following power struggles between Army Chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and RSF leader, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
