In the campaign’s last days, the Revolución Ciudadana (Citizen Revolution-RC) movement alerted on possible accusations against the organization using a false flag operation. RC also warned of possible computer manipulation of the voting results.
The National Electoral Council (CNE) emphasized the importance of vote transparency on Sunday, February 9, stating that the computer system had been validated by national and international observers, as well as representatives from political parties.
On the other hand, the Constitutional Court (CC) declared incompatible with the Constitution the decrees by which President and re-election candidate Daniel Noboa entrusted the Government leadership to interim Vice President Cynthia Gellibert to campaign instead of Vice President Veronica Abad.
RC candidate Luisa Gonzalez and President Noboa lead the voting intentions among the 16 presidential aspirants, according to the latest authorized polls, and the comments on digital media are also focused on both figures.
More than 13.7 million Ecuadorians will vote on February 9 to elect the president, vice president, 151 members of Congress, and five representatives of the Andean Parliament.
A presidential runoff between the two candidates with the most votes will be held on Sunday, April 13.
