Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian expressed the government’s opposition to the forced relocation of the population of the Palestinian enclave. “We hope that all parties concerned will take advantage of the ceasefire and post-war governance in Gaza as an opportunity to put the Palestinian issue back on the right track of a political solution based on the two-state solution and achieve lasting peace in the Middle East,” he said.
On the issue of the fentanyl consumption epidemic in the United States, the spokesman emphasized that its roots are in the United States itself. “At the request of the United States, China announced in 2019 that it would officially list fentanyl-like substances as a whole, making it the first country in the world to list fentanyl-like substances as a whole,” he said.
The spokesman recalled that in recent years the two nations have conducted extensive cooperation in the fight against narcotics and made tangible progress in the areas of substance control, intelligence sharing, case-by-case cooperation, cleaning up online advertisements, technical exchanges on drug testing, and multilateral interaction.
Lin Jian pointed out that the US side ignored these achievements and insisted on imposing a 10 percent tariff on Chinese products using fentanyl as a pretext. “Shifting the blame will not solve the problem, and there will be no winners in trade and tariff wars. Pressure and threats are not the right way to deal with China,” he said.
The official also stressed that what is needed now is not a unilateral imposition of tariffs, but a dialogue on equal terms and mutual respect.
“China will resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests,” the spokesman said.
