Israel intensifies its military offensive against the West Bank

Ramallah, Feb 5 (Prensa Latina) The Israeli Armed Forces intensified their offensive against the West Bank, where they tightened the siege on several cities and raided others.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that in the last few hours, the Israeli military arrested several citizens in the city of Jenin, the epicenter of the campaign launched 16 days ago, along with the neighboring refugee camp of the same name.

The military also maintains the siege of the main hospital in the city after demolishing its entrance and the main street that leads to the facility, the source stressed. “Before the attack, we treated up to 40 thousand people from the governorate, now the facility is almost empty, only some emergency cases can arrive,” denounced its director Wissam Bakr.

Wafa reported that Israeli soldiers also stormed the city of Hebron on Wednesday, where they raided several homes. Israeli troops continued their siege of the town of Tamoun and the Al-Far’a refugee camp for the fourth consecutive day, with Israeli troops continuing to attack houses, destroying the belongings of locals and confiscating some of them.

The news agency added that the humanitarian situation in both towns is serious following the cuts in water and electricity supplies, and the blockade, which prevents the entry of food, medicine, and necessities.

“Our farmers cannot reach their lands, which means huge losses in crops in the middle of the harvest,” explained the mayor of Tamoun, Najeh Bani Odeh.

The Tulkarem refugee camp is experiencing a similar situation, with extensive destruction of infrastructure reported as a result of Israeli bombings and the intensive use of military bulldozers. The place is almost empty, with only a few families left, who live without the minimum necessities of life, with a severe shortage of food, water, and medicine, a source explained to Wafa.

Early this morning, the Israeli army raided the towns of Hizma, Silwan, and Al-Issawiy, as well as the Qalandia refugee camp, located near the occupied area of East Jerusalem. Three arrests were also reported during a raid in the village of Kafr Ein and the city.
