The program, part of the “65th Anniversary of the Cinemateca de Cuba” series, will include a selection of restored films and an exhibition of posters dedicated to Italian actor Marcelo Mastroianni in the lobby of the cinema.
The opening of the event will be in charge of the film “Puerta de las Lilas” (Porte des Lilas, 1957) by renowned director René Clair.
This cultural venue is attached to the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industries (Icaic), one of the most prestigious entities in the country, and performs a commendable job in preserving and safeguarding the national and international film heritage.
Its interior also houses the documents on the history of cinema found in its vaults, including books, magazines, posters, essays and film reviews.
Since its creation, the Cinemateca de Cuba has aimed at establishing a sustained and permanent dialogue between the spectator and cinema, both current and classic.
One of these premises is its openness as a house of studies and consultation by providing access to materials of interest on the seventh art and its history.
