According to an Egyptian presidency message, the president’s statements came during a phone call with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, on Wednesday evening.
El-Sisi’s remarks are a clear rejection of the plans of US President Donald Trump, who advocated this week for displacing the Gaza Strip’s population to rebuild that territory.
The Egyptian head of State affirmed that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve stability in the Middle East.
During his phone call, El-Sisi described Cairo’s continued efforts to ensure the full implementation of the Gaza ceasefire deal between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel, which includes a prisoner exchange, the text stated.
Macron, in turn, expressed appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Strip, the statement said.
El-Sisi and Macron also addressed the situation in Syria and reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the unity and territorial integrity of that Arab nation.
