In an interview with Radio Nacional de España (RNE), the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, remarked that solidarity with the Palestinians “is beyond any doubt”.
In stating the Government’s position on the statements made by the US President, Donald Trump, and the Israeli Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, he pointed out that ‘no third party has to tell (Spain) what to do’.
Albares thus underlined the unalterable point of view of the Iberian country, in relation to the Israeli headline order for the Army to prepare an exit plan for civilians who intend to leave the Gaza Strip.
He said this after Trump’s comments of his idea of controlling Gaza with the expulsion of the entire population, further qualified by Katz that it would be hypocritical if Spain, Ireland or Norway refuse to take in Palestinians their hypocrisy will be revealed.
They were the first Europeans to recognize Palestine last year, reaffirming their criteria that only the existence of two states will facilitate peace in that region.
