Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyan Jaishankar held talks on Wednesday with both international authorities, who are on an extensive programme in India.
Regarding his meeting with Yang, Jaishankar said that several issues on the UN agenda were discussed, including the need for reforms in the international organisation. They also exchanged views on regional, global and development issues.
Jaishankar took the opportunity to express his appreciation for Yang’s leadership and guidance as president of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On the other hand, the Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated Nurlan Yermekbayev for assuming the responsibility of secretary general of the SCO. The two discussed aspects of India’s work in the Organization and the construction of a secure SCO, according to the foreign minister.
For India, Yang’s visit represents an opportunity to enhance India’s ties with the United Nations, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the international organization.
Indian officials said that the presence of the SCO Secretary General in India underlines his commitment to enhancing regional cooperation, security, and economic and trade development.
