Expressing its support for the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Levantine Foreign Ministry reiterated its rejection of any attempt to displace or settle the Palestinians.
In a statement, the institution reiterated the need to promote a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution, the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative issued by the Beirut Summit (2002).
In the same vein, Lebanon’s highest Sunni religious authority, Grand Mufti Abdel Latif Derian, emphasized that Netanyahu’s and President Donald Trump’s comments about relocating Palestinians to Saudi Arabia or other Arab nations reflect a violent and terrorist agenda pursued by the Zionist entity.
The authority reiterated support for Saudi Arabia in the fight against Zionist terrorism, which is backed by the U.S. administration.
In his statement, the Grand Mufti stressed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on all its land, with Jerusalem as its capital, is an inevitable right.
Political figures, leaders and institutions in Lebanon and the region repudiated Netanyahu’s statements, regarding the possible displacement of the Palestinian people from their land and hostility to the right of an independent, free and sovereign state.
