During his participation in the interview space Frente a Frente of Telecorporación Salvadoreña (TCS), Flores highlighted the work carried out by the political institute in the territories to rescue ‘our bases’ and pointed out that recovering the confidence of the people takes time.
When expressing his vision on the situation in the country, the leader said that the people are worried about the issues of the reestablishment of metallic mining and the economic situation, which is affected by the increase in the price of the basic food basket in the last months.
Regarding the plans to establish metallic mining as approved by the Assembly and signed by the government, the people, he stressed, are ready to defend ‘life and water’.
On the eve, the Medical College of El Salvador (Colmed) assured in a communiqué that the exploration and exploitation of metallic mining in the country will cause ‘serious damage to health’ and will impact the environment and the health of Salvadorans.
Flores pointed out that in the coming months the country will have to import more than 40 percent of the food consumed by the population, which gives an idea of the crisis.
In another part of his statements, he said that today the people have lost their fear, they are protesting and demanding more.
The government knows, he affirmed, that President Bukele is losing popularity and support, despite the fact that a Gallup poll gave the president a high percent for his performance among the rest of the region.
Regarding US foreign policy, Flores stated that President Donald Trump believes he is ‘the king of the world’ and is poorly advised by his entourage.
He pointed out that during the visit of Secretary of State Marco Rubio ‘no president talked about defending the rights of immigrants’, which he said speaks of the priority given to the issue by the authorities.
