The police called Operation Alpha the actions in Cúcuta that led to the capture of 17 members of the Pepinos criminal organization, eight by court order, two more in flagrante delicto and seven were charged in prisons.
The operation led to the clarification of 14 homicides and two massacres, as well as the seizure of more than 87 million pesos in cash (about US$20,000 at the current exchange rate), cell phones, gold, ammunition and suppliers.
In the town of Lourdes, also in Norte de Santander, the forces of law and order together with the Aerospace Force intercepted members of the Juan Fernando Porras Martínez front of the aforementioned insurgent group.
