We are deeply concerned about the deteriorating situation as the number of children killed, injured, and displaced increases,” Edouard Beigbeder, UNICEF Regional Director for Middle East and North Africa, underscored in a statement.
Since early 2025, at least 13 children have been killed in the West Bank, seven of those deaths occurred after January 19, he said.
Beigbeder noted that since the start of the current cycle of violence in the region on October 7, 2023, some 195 Palestinian children and another three Israeli children have been killed in the West Bank. “There is a 200 percent increase in the number of Palestinian children murdered in the territory in the last 16 months compared to the previous 16 months.”
The official condemned the use of explosives, air raids, and demolitions in the territory, particularly in the Jenin, Tulkarem, and Tubas governorates.
Beigbeder said the raids caused significant damage to infrastructure in towns and villages, including water and electricity networks.
