Cuban and Bolivian nuclear medicine agreement benefit health

La Paz, Feb 17 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Bolivia's health will benefit from the collaboration agreement on nuclear medicine that will be signed today in Havana, assured the ambassador of the Caribbean country in the South American nation, Elba Rosa Pérez.

In an exclusive interview granted to Prensa Latina, the diplomat assured that the signing of an Inter-institutional Cooperation Agreement between the Bolivian Nuclear Energy Agency (ABEN) and the Isotope Center of Cuba’s Nuclear Energy and Advanced Technologies Agency (Aenta) is aimed in that direction.

“The signing of an agreement that is part of the Governmental Cooperation Agreement between Bolivia and Cuba has been finalized,” the diplomat told this news agency with visible optimism.

She explained that this long-standing agreement is in force, and in the field of science and technology many actions have been undertaken; however, this new understanding concretizes an action in the practical order on the subject of nuclear development and advanced technologies.

“Upon my arrival here as ambassador, I was informed that there is a Bolivian Agency of Nuclear Energy, and as we have a counterpart in Cuba, the first thing I did was to visit its headquarters,” confessed the former Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and Environment 2012-2024).

Regarding ABEN, she stated that it is an extraordinarily well-equipped agency with advanced technology. Since they are familiar with Cuba’s work and its decades-long training of human resources, they are interested in establishing a collaboration for joint efforts to leverage the experience of Cuban professionals.

“Bolivia also has very well-trained professionals,” clarified Perez, “but they acknowledge that Cuba has a long training history. They want us to undertake work that allows us to collaborate in a complementary manner.”
