Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun addressed concerns about the possible imposition of new levies by the US administration on Chinese and Brazilian products.
In this regard, the spokesman reiterated that protectionism and tariff wars have no future and no winners, a view widely shared by the international community.
“The United States should understand that what the world needs is not more tariffs, but solutions based on mutual respect and equality through consultation,” he said.
According to the spokesman, Beijing will take necessary actions to defend its legitimate rights and interests.
On China-Brazil relations, Guo stressed that both countries, as world powers and representatives of the Global South, have shown strategic firmness in the face of an international scenario marked by changes and challenges.
The two nations have actively contributed to global peace, stability and development, he said.
The spokesman stressed that China is willing to work with Brazil to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and deepen cooperation in various fields.
