According to Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, USAID invested more than 120 million dollars to subvert the constitutional order in Cuba, he wrote on the social network X.

He also asserted that it is unusual for an official development agency to use money to support a change of government and enrich those who see a business in the suffering of the Cuban people.

The administration of Republican Donald Trump discontinued the normal operation of that government agency, subordinating it to the State Department, while subjecting it to an audit on the use of its financial resources.

According to Granma newspaper, during fiscal years 2023 and 2024, the US federal organization disbursed some 1.7 billion dollars in Latin America and the Caribbean alone.

Based on data released by the website foreignassistance, the newspaper notes that much of these funds were allocated to less than humanitarian purposes.
