The contract must be approved by the Plurinational Legislative Assembly (ALP).
The document was signed in September last year.
However, due to the internal political situation, the process has been delayed, said the Russian Federation’s ambassador in Bolivia, Dmitry Verchenko, referring to Bolivian legislation.
However, in statements to the press, the diplomat emphasized with respect to the contract signed in September 2024 between Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB) and the subsidiary of the Rosatom corporation, Uranium One Group that, since the beginning of 2025, certain positive advances have been observed. He mentioned that last January the contract was endorsed in the Energy and Hydrocarbons Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
The next step is the review of the document by the Plural Economy, Production and Industry Committee, where it is currently being considered.
Verchenko recalled that the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Omar Yujra, said that the commission session should be held in the next few days, so that the issue can then be debated in the plenary session.
“There are certain issues, but we trust in the triumph of common sense.”
The approval of this contract in the Upper Chamber of the ALP (Senate) seems more complicated’, the diplomat said.
