Following the publication of the most recent survey “Latin Americans: Perspective of the International Environment” by M&R Consultores, the experts pointed out that the peoples of the region are aware of Washington’s self-styled claim to be the world’s policeman through the Monroe Doctrine.
“By certifying their capacity to invade other nations even by force, Latin Americans are demonstrating that, based on the knowledge of the identity of each of their countries, they share a regional characteristic,” analyst Xavier Díaz-Lacayo told the press.
The public opinion survey revealed that 80,1% of those interviewed expressed their rejection of the Monroe Doctrine, while only 19,9% accepted it.
Similarly, 86,6% of those surveyed rejected the idea that Latin America is considered the backyard of the United States.
In addition, 52,5% of Latin Americans said that historically, the United States has appropriated the region’s natural resources.
“The majority of Latin America recognizes the importance of unity, peace, the rejection of the Monroe Doctrine, and the construction of Latin American projects,” expert Francisco Bautista stated.
