Spanish Vice President to travel to Argentina and Uruguay

Madrid, Feb 20 (Prensa Latina) The second vice-president of Spain, Yolanda Diaz, will undertake next week a tour that will take her to Argentina and Uruguay, with labor and political issues on her agenda.

As informed today by the Ministry of Labor headed by Diaz, in Buenos Aires she will meet with the Governor of that province, Axel Kicillof, who is also a leader of the opposition to the Argentine President, Javier Milei, plunged into a serious crisis due to the hecatomb of a cryptocurrency he supported.

The tour of the Spanish second vice-president, promoter of labor reform in the Iberian country and wage hikes, will begin on Thursday, February 27 and will last until March 1.

Diaz, who is also the main promoter of a reduction of the working week to 37.5 hours in Spain, intends to exchange with union leaders and politicians in both Argentina and Uruguay, according to the source.

Her intention is to ratify ‘Spain’s commitment to a development model based on democracy, work and social justice,’ she said.

He will also give a lecture on the challenges of democracy in the world of work at the University of Buenos Aires.

With tensions and distances marked between the governments of Spain and Argentina, Diaz’s stay will take place in the midst of criticism for Milei’s support to the launch of the $LIBRA cryptocurrency, which later collapsed and is at the center of a scandal.

The Minister of Labor will also travel to Uruguay, where she will attend the inauguration of the new Uruguayan president, Yamandu Orsi.

She will also take part in the forum ‘Democracy, development and equality in a changing world.’

Diaz will meet with the presidents of Chile, Gabriel Boric, and Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, and the Colombian vice-president, Francia Márquez. ef/abo/ro/ft
