Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos, leading the local delegation, called for strengthening support for the development aspirations of developing countries, quoted by Fana Broadcasting Corporate.
Timothewos pointed out that the world is facing various challenges posed by geopolitical tensions, conflicts and climate change.
In this regard, he stressed the importance of striking the right balance between competition and cooperation, emphasizing the need for joint collaboration among the international community, including G-20 member states, in a bid to build a stable, secure and prosperous future.
Under the theme “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability,” the G20 forum was inaugurated the day before in Johannesburg by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. For the first time this African nation is hosting the event and Ethiopia is participating at the invitation of Pretoria, the current president of the group.
