“This celebration commemorates the anniversary of the party that built a long history of struggle for the rights of the people, the defense of democracy, and the construction of a fairer Brazil,” a PT statement noted.
Under the slogan “Roots in the People. Eyes on the Future”, the commemoration will be marked by relevant debates, culture, gastronomy, and a big popular party.
Among the event’s central themes will be the socio-environmental agenda with the round table entitled “A COP30 (United Nations Climate Conference) and inclusive development.”
On Saturday, Lula expects to attend the political act for the 45th anniversary of the PT, along with leaders, representatives of allied parties, and popular movements.
The PT was founded on February 10, 1980, at Sion College in Sao Paulo by a heterogeneous group of party members opposed to the military dictatorship (1964-1985), trade unionists, intellectuals, artists, and Catholics linked to liberation theology.
Since its foundation, the PT, the largest left-wing party in Latin America, has been dedicated to defending democratic socialism.
