“During a long phone talk, Putin and Xi deepened an exchange of views on the development of the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China,” reads the statement published on the Russian presidential administration’s official website this Monday.
In addition, the two presidents discussed cooperation in economy and trade, investment, culture, education, and sports.
The statement adds that the Russian president informed his Chinese counterpart about the contacts between Russia and the United States, and Beijing expressed its support for dialogue, and its willingness to promote the search for a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian conflict.
Both leaders also confirmed their mutual plans to visit Beijing and Moscow, respectively, to participate in ceremonial events marking the 80th anniversary of World War II (WWII) victory.
They also confirmed the schedule of forthcoming summits in connection with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of WWII victory, the forthcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, and the solemn events in Beijing to commemorate the eight decades of victory over Japan and the end of WWII.
Both Putin and Xi affirmed that Russian-Chinese relations are not directed against others, but play a stabilizing role in global affairs.
