The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates asked the institution to probe the numerous deaths of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prison centers.
We observe with great concern the increasing number of deaths among detainees in Israeli prisons, it underscored.
In this regard, the Ministry stressed that at least 59 Palestinians have died in prisons since the aggression broke out in the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
The diplomatic institution also denounced “the cruel practices and lethal methods of torture against the detainees,” and noted that many of them are still unaccounted for.
We urge the international community, especially humanitarian organizations, to intervene to protect them and compel the Israeli authorities to fulfill their obligations,” it stated.
A week ago, the Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) accused the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of increasing levels of abuse and torture against the prisoners.
