Russia says it is open to economic cooperation with US

Moscow, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Russia is open to economic cooperation with the United States and believes such cooperation is key to increasing the sustainability of the global economy, Kirill Dmitriev, Director General of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), affirmed on Tuesday.

Dmitriev recalled that high-level Russian-US negotiations were held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on February 18, and he accompanied Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, as part of his country’s delegation.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff also attended the meeting.

After the talks, Dmitriev said he showed his US colleagues a table with a financial assessment of the losses that US companies had in several economic sectors due to the withdrawal from the Russian market.

Lavrov revealed that during these first face-to-face negotiations after a long hiatus, Russia and the United States agreed to create conditions for a full resumption of cooperation and expansion into new areas of mutual interest.

In particular, Moscow and Washington agreed to remove artificial restrictions imposed on the operation of their embassies and other foreign missions and create high-level working groups to achieve an early solution to the crisis in Ukraine.
