Spain ratifies commitment to Palestinian development

Madrid, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Spain ratified today its commitment to cooperation for development with Palestine, in a meeting with organizations in charge of the subject.

The Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Albares, reiterated the continuity of Spanish cooperation with Palestine, while expressing his desire to find a peaceful solution to the conflict ravaging the Middle East.

In this regard, he recalled that Palestine is the main beneficiary of Spanish cooperation in the region, with more than 50 million euros since the beginning of the conflict.

Albares held a meeting on Tuesday with the Non-Governmental Organizations for Development (NGOD) present in Palestine, to address problems on the ground, such as the limitation of movements or the impossibility of issuing visas and work permits.

The diplomat was accompanied by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Eva Granados, and the director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Antón Leis.

An exchange took place with the president and vice president of the Coordinating Committee of Development Organizations, Javier Ruiz and Penelope Barlamas, respectively, and with the director of Humanitarian Action of UNRWA Spain, Lorena Gamito, as well as representatives of about twenty NGDOs.

Through these meetings, Albares consolidates a space for talks and exchange with the actors that continue to operate in Palestine, as well as listening to their concerns and requests, said the Foreign Ministry.
