The initiative was discussed during a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat between President Anura Kumara Disanayake and the High Commissioner of the Republic of the Maldives, Masood Imad, the official source indicated.
During the meeting, the Maldivian ambassador congratulated the government on its recent electoral victory and expressed his satisfaction with the positive changes taking place in the country following the election results.
Both coincided in highlighting the interest in strengthening and promoting the 60-year diplomatic relations between the two countries. According to the source, the Sri Lankan leader acknowledged and expressed his appreciation for the Maldives’ contributions to strengthening bilateral ties.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including senior additional secretary to the head of State, Roshan Gamage, Maldivian foreign secretary Fathimath Inaya and additional secretary, Aminath Abdulla Didi.
