Sudanese Government gets decisive support from Egypt

Khartoum, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) The Sovereign Transitional Council (STC) of Sudan received Egypt's support against the intention of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to integrate a parallel government, Foreign Minister Ali Youssef El-Sherif noted on Monday.

No one will recognize the so-called parallel government to the Sudanese Executive, said El-Sherif after holding talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, in Cairo, according to local media.

The STC, a recognized government, is co-starring with the RSF in the nearly two-year war that has resulted in 24,000 deaths and the largest refugee crisis in history: 24 million human beings, in addition to the devastation of this northern African country.

The announcement of the formation of a RSF-led cabinet composed of allied groups was issued after a meeting in Nairobi some days ago and led the STC to recall its ambassador in the Kenyan capital for consultation, an intermediate stop to the rupture of diplomatic relations.

The initiative of the paramilitary group, headed by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, comes amid advances by the army, loyal to the STC, led by General Abdel Fattah al Burhan, in this capital and the twin city of Omdurman.

Egypt’s support has a notable specific weight because that country has borders with Sudan which would facilitate the arrival of logistical support and, even more, given its political influence in the continent.
