Venezuelan FM meets with Palestinian counterpart in Geneva

Geneva, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) The governments of Venezuela and Palestine reaffirmed here their friendship, solidarity and joint will to strengthen cooperation.

This agreement was reached at a meeting between the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, Versan Aghabekian, on Monday.

The meeting took place in the framework of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council, which is in session in Geneva, the head of Venezuelan diplomacy wrote on his Telegram channel.

Gil stressed that the meeting allowed “reaffirming Venezuela’s friendship and solidarity with the Palestinian people,” as well as the joint struggle to strengthen cooperation and alliances for self-determination in multilateral forums.

Speaking at the plenary session of the forum, Gil stated that while in this Council disinformation campaigns are mounted against Venezuela, “absolute silence is kept regarding the genocide of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.”

This is carried out with the complicity of the same players who here present themselves as moral judges, which “is the height of hypocrisy,” he said, and reaffirmed that “it is not only silence, but institutionalized corruption.”

The Venezuelan foreign minister also met on Monday with Qatar’s Minister of International Cooperation, Maryam Al-Musnad, to strengthen multilateral alliances and continue to advance bilateral cooperation in key fields such as tourism, trade and energy, among others.
