CELAC-China Workshop seeks to strengthen relationship

Tegucigalpa, Feb 26 (Prensa Latina) The 5th Workshop on Financial Cooperation between China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) continues in Honduras on Wednesday to strengthen the relationship between the Asian nation and the regional mechanism.

Opened in this capital on Monday at Honduras’ Secretariat of Foreign Affairs headquarters, the seminar will be active until Friday.

With the participation of more than a hundred people 33 CELAC member states, the event seeks to strengthen political, economic, and cultural relations between Beijing and the Latin American and Caribbean bloc.

The first four editions of the workshop were held in China, and this is the first time that this event is held in Latin America, another significant achievement for Honduras as a president pro tempore of the regional integration mechanism, Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Torres stressed.

With the opening of the 5th Seminar, we are fulfilling the schedule of summits, forums, meetings, and activities that we presented a year ago as the President Pro Tempore (PPT) of the Community, Torres underscored.

Honduras will host the 9th Summit of Heads of State and Government of CELAC this year, during which it will hand over the presidency pro tempore of the multilateral organization to Colombia.
