Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian recalled that the World Conference on Women held in this capital three decades ago was a historic milestone in advancing women’s rights.

The diplomat noted that over the last 30 years, the Declaration and the “Beijing Platform for Action” have protected and promoted women’s rights globally.

“China will use this anniversary to work with the international community to open a new historic chapter. It aims to push forward the progress of women’s cause globally with renewed energy and reaffirm the commitment to gender equality and inclusive development,” he added.

Lin Jian highlighted the words of China’s first female astronaut, Liu Yang, who participated in a special seminar online at the United Nations to recall the event.
