Indian envoy to visit Uruguay, Bahamas, Barbados and Nicaragua

New Delhi, Feb 26 (Prensa Latina) The Indian Foreign Affairs and Textile Minister, Pabitra Margherita, will reportedly begin next Friday a nine-day tour of Latin America, which comprises Uruguay, Bahamas, Barbados and Nicaragua.

As part of his Agenda in Uruguay, which will extend from February 28th to March 2nd, Margherita will represent India in President-elect Yamandu Orsi’s swearing-in ceremony.

Following that, in Bahamas, where he will stay until March 4th, the Indian diplomat will be tasked with following up on the fulfillment of the topics analyzed by the Prime Ministers as part of the 2nd India-CARICOM summit that took place in Guyana on November, 2024, which ended with benefits for all parties involved, engaged as they are in the current challenges, such as climate change, renewable energy sources, healt6h care and food security.

After that, the envoy will visit Barbados from March 4th to 6th, with an agenda that contemplates reviewing links between both countries after the India-CARICOM summit and the meeting between Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Mia Amor Mottley in November 24th.

Margherita will wind up his Latin American tour on March 8th in Nicaragua, which will become the first visit from his Ministry to the country.

Just like in the rest of his destinations, Margherita will hold bilateral meetings with his Nicaraguan counterparts, political, trade and industrial leaders, as well as members of the Indian diaspora; he will also visit sites of bilateral development association projects.

Authorities expect that Margherita’s visit will further strengthen India’s warm and friendly ties with the aforementioned nations and open new ways for cooperation.
