According to INE, the total number of workers in January was determined to stand at around 1,750,000, while those seeking employment amounted to some 154,000, a lower figure than in January last year.

Meanwhile, the informal employment rate reached 21.3 percentage points.

Such data were revealed when there were reports of several thousand workers being placed on unemployment insurance, other jobs at risk, several labor conflicts, and even foreign companies, such as the Japanese auto-part makers Yazaki, which closed its operations in the country.
