On March 2, 1896, Ethiopians from all corners of the country shocked the world by decisively defeating the well-armed Italian invasion force in the Battle of Adwa.
It was a significant moment in the history of Africa.
Ethiopia triumphed over Italy, representing the first substantial defeat of a European power at the hands of African troops during the colonial period.
