Under the theme “Adwa, Victory of the Black People,” the Ethiopian National Defense Forces together with other stakeholders prepared the program of activities to honor that important event and boost a sense of collective memory among Ethiopians.

Meanwhile, the event at the memorial museum was attended by government officials, community leaders, ambassadors from several countries and other guests.

On March 2, 1896, Ethiopians from all corners of the country shocked the world by decisively defeating the well-armed Italian invasion force in the Battle of Adwa.

It was a significant moment in the history of Africa.

Ethiopia triumphed over Italy, representing the first substantial defeat of a European power at the hands of African troops during the colonial period.
