Disagreements continue in Haiti’s political leaderships

Port-au-Prince, Mar 3 (Prensa Latina) The disagreements between political leaderships continue today in Haiti, where there are criticism about struggling for personal and factional interests above the needs of the people.

The member of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), Emmanuel Vertilaire in charge of the project of justice and public security within the mentioned body, informed that he did not participate in the last Council of Ministers held at the end of the week.

This decision – the advisor alleged – reflects his indignation at the refusal of his CPT colleagues to address, with responsibility and urgency, the real problems of the population.

“This is not a time for indifference or political bickering, but for concerted action to alleviate the plight of the Haitian people,” Vertilaire as was quoted by the digital newspaper Haiti Libre.

Previously, the Order of Human Rights Defenders of Haiti reported that violence exercised by the gangs left a balance in 2024 of 6,938 deaths, 1,648 injured and another 1,515 kidnapped.

In addition to those killed and injured by gunfire, two thousand 34 people lost their lives with bladed weapons in 2024.
