Trudeau also confirmed that Canada began applying 25 percent tariffs on goods worth 30 billion Canadian dollars (20.74 billion US dollars) starting this Tuesday in response to Washington’s measure.
“Obviously, we will turn to the legal resources that we believe we have through the agreements that we share with the United States,” said the federal government.
The 25 percent tariff on all Canadian products, except energy products such as oil, gas and electricity, which will have a 10 percent tariff upon entering the United States, came into effect this Tuesday, February 18.
