Paris, Mar 4 (Prensa Latina) Humanity celebrates on Tuesday World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development to raise awareness of the role of engineering in modern life, which is essential to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2019, this date is framed within the UN 2030 Agenda.

It aims to present projects at the engineering and technological level to achieve the goals set out in the plan for sustainable development proposed by the nations.

Engineers play an important role in the modern world by developing new technologies and methods to obtain the necessary resources without endangering the planet.

They are also responsible for driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), which is based on the development of advances such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and quantum computing.
