In his X account the Head of State indicated that again Trump is lying when he said that the Canal is in the process of being recovered by the US, and added that this was not an issue discussed in recent talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Cooperation between our governments is based on clear understandings on issues of mutual interest, as we have been doing. It has nothing to do neither with the “recovery of the Canal” nor with sullying our national sovereignty,” Mulino pointed out.
On Tuesday, Trump in his first message to the nation in Congress said that his country had already begun to recover the Panama Canal in a clear allusion to the fact that the BlackRock-TiL consortium bought the ports of Balboa and Cristobal, on the Pacific and Atlantic side of the river route, respectively, from the Hong Kong-based CK Hutchinson Port Holdings Ltd group.
Before senators and congressmen, the tenant of the Oval Office indicated that his government was going to recover the maritime route.
