Venezuelan FM salutes Cuba and its president for tribute to Chávez

Caracas, Mar 5 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil extended a warm greeting to the Cuban people and President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Wednesday on his emotional tribute to Commander Hugo Chávez on the 12th anniversary of his physical departure.

“On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we extend a warm greeting to the Cuban people and President Miguel Díaz-Canel on the occasion of his emotional tribute to Commander Hugo Chávez,” the senior diplomat stressed on his Telegram channel.

Together, Gil said, we recalled his legacy of unity, inclusion and his tireless fight for a fairer and better world for all.

On his account on the same social network, the Cuban head of State wrote, “One leaves but does not leave,” Cuba’s best friend said.

Díaz-Canel pointed out that 12 years after his painful departure, “we confirm it: #ChavezLives in the hearts of his people and of all those who believe that a better world is possible. If we fight to achieve it,” he added.

Gil also thanked his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, for his emotional tribute to Commander Hugo Chávez on the 12th anniversary of his sowing.

“Venezuela will continue to cultivate the love that Chávez taught us, not only towards Cuba, but towards all the peoples of the world,” he pointed out.

Rodríguez stated on the social network that the legacy of the so-called Eternal Commander “lives in the thousands of men and women in the world who continue to advocate for a better, more just and equitable future.”

On Wednesday, when 12 years have passed since the Bolivarian leader’s immortality was sown, there were many tributes organized by his followers, including mobilizations, chants, an ecumenical prayer and a commemorative event at Cuartel de la Montaña (4F), where his remains rest, among others.

In this sacred place, representatives of the indigenous peoples of the Pemón community, authorities, family and friends of Chávez, paid tribute to him on Wednesday with songs, messages and words of remembrance and gratitude.
