He stressed the importance of a political solution through dialogue and negotiation, while calling on the international community to work for a just and lasting peace settlement.
“The ice was not formed in a day and its thawing will not happen overnight either,” the incumbent said as he acknowledged the complexity of the roots of the crisis.
The head of diplomacy in China made these statements at a press conference on the sidelines of the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress and the third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the highest advisory body.
“China’s position has always been objective and fair, with a balanced and rational approach aimed at creating conditions for a peaceful settlement,” he said.
He stressed that Beijing supports all international efforts aimed at achieving peace and has acted as a bridge to facilitate the talks.
Wang Yi insisted that “conflict has no winners, while peace will have no losers.”
The minister stressed that a negotiating table should be the end point of this crisis and the beginning of reconciliation.
