The Russian presidential spokesperson told Live newspaper on Friday that President Vladimir Putin will find ways to avoid falling into such a spiral.

Peskov indicated that Europe cannot win the arms race against Russia, because Moscow “simple will not join”, instead, will focus on its interests.”

The spokesperson noted that Europe’s militaristic and confrontational statements show that the continent has not yet adapted itself to the relations that have now been established between Russia and the United States.

He stressed that “the Europeans are very flexible,” so understanding which way the wind is blowing and seeking dialogue to reach an agreement cannot be ruled out.

The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that Russia does not threaten anyone but will not ignore actions that are potentially dangerous to its interests.
