More than 2,000 members from 34 sectors offered suggestions on essential issues for national development.
After a rigorous review process based on the body’s regulations, 5,002 proposals were approved, 262 cases were merged, and 626 were opinions and suggestions.
Of the approved proposals, 4,531 (90.6 percent) were submitted by individual members, while 471 (9.4 percent) corresponded to collective groups.
The advisors’ suggestions were distributed in five main areas: economic construction with 2,133 proposals (42.6 percent), politics had 419 (8.4 percent), culture with 459 (9.2 percent), society with 1,387 (27.7 percent), and ecology with 604 (12.1 percent).
After the conference closes this week, the approved proposals will be delivered to the responsible units for processing and follow-up.
The annual meetings of China’s top legislature, the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), and the country’s leading political advisory body, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference are held simultaneously. These important political events are collectively known as the “Two Sessions.”
